Kirklees may not have a large number of indoor climbing facilities but there are loads within an hours drive, possibly the finest selection of indoor routes and bouldering in the country.
Indoor walls are a great way to learn technique and get strong in preparation for climbing outdoor. Most will run courses to teach you the basics and introduce you to other climbers.

Huddersfield's newest climbing wall. OK so it's not actually in Huddersfield, it's in Brighouse, but it's got a Huddersfield postcode.
A combination of leading, top rope and bouldering walls.

Huddersfield Sport Centre
Huddersfield Wall is at the Huddersfield Sports Centre in a dedicated room.
There are in-situ ropes on slabby, vertical and roofed walls of medium height plus a couple of lead-only lines.
The bouldering area is well-used with featured panels plus a distinctive elephant's trunk feature. Courses are run at the wall contact them for further information.
