LINKS
There are ever increasing numbers of links to climbing sites. This page indicates some of
the interesting ones and is by no means complete! Suggestions for additions are, of course, welcome.
General Links
- One of the most thorough sites for links is that of
planetfear which
will guide you to most of the common sites.
- Another huge pile of useful links will be found on rock climbing hq.
- You will also find
UKclimbing to be a major source for climbers.
- The German Rumtreiber site has an excellent links section.
- On an official note, the
British Mountaineering Council site contains what
might be expected plus current affairs relevant to the climbing populace.
- Mike Whittaker's site has a massive (and growing) routes database for the UK.
- Other good sites for international news, topos etc include
PlanetMountain and
8a.nu (which focuses on international sport climbing news)
Chat
- As well as providing supplementary information to the Rockfax guides and other excellent info, the
Rockfax site also houses a lively debate on matters
related (sometimes) to climbing. This can also be found on UKclimbing.
Bouldering and Gritstone
- For "God's Own Rock", try Jon Read's well-presented site which includes the
infamous Grit List.
- For The Lakes, www.lakesbloc.co.uk is excellent,
- Dartmoor has its own bouldering guide and
The Peak District has several bouldering
spots described on Keith Turton's site.
Kevin Thaw's site contains some grit information (including bouldering at Den Lane Quarry
and a stolen map to Wimberry Boulders!)
The cinderella bouldering area, Carnforth, is on the Megagrip site.
Yorkshire has a bouldering site also.
- For Chew Valley grit climbing and bouldering, visit Steven Denderfield's excellent web site.
- 8a.nu carries news from the international bouldering scene.
Various sites for Fontainbleau can be found on another page at
kirkleesclimbing.
-
Annot has trendy new sandstone bouldering (better than Font, say the French magazines!)
- Australia has a bouldering site.
- Bouldering topos from across the world are carried on the Top Bouldering site.
- You could also try out bouldering sites for Sweden,
for Greece,
for, Meschia, Italy and, again,
Meschia,
for Cresciano and, again,
Cresciano,
and for Sardinian bouldering,
for Germany,
and for Meschia, El Escorial, Targasonne and the Peak.
- Turkey's going to be big, soon.
- An excellent site for Austria with modern topos and great links is www.chalkbag.at
- And then there's the Broughton guide.

Maps and Equipment
- Maps to just about anywhere can be ordered on-line at
Stanfords.
- As well as the usual British shops, it might be worth checking out the prices in Paris at
Au Vieux Campeur
The Weather, Tides and Other Sites
- Weather sites are sometimes useful(?). The Met Office offers
the expected British regional and world reports.
- However, also check out Jon Read's summary of weather sites.
- For tide timetables, visit The Climbers' Club
site.
- Help with sport injuries can be found at theTimeOutDoors site.
