Photo: The hell that is Broughton...

The climbing wall at Broughton Recreation Centre is for bouldering only. The facility is probably the best indoor bouldering venue in Britain and, with around 1000 recorded routes, certainly the most well documented. It consists of steep walls and bulges, covered in featured holds as well as bolt-ons. There is also a slab at the right-hand end. To complement the facility, there is a campus board and a climbing cellar in an adjacent room. Recently, a boulder has been imported. Competitions are held regularly.

The climbing wall can be found at: Broughton Recreation Centre, Camp Street, Salford M7 1ZT.
Telephone 0161 792 2847.
Parking at the recreation centre is guarded in the evening (in the compound around the corner).

On this site is the 2001 edition which gives most of the problems and an idea of the scale of things. For a more up-to-date download, visit the broughton wall web site.
